| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.co.uk Review Disney's 1994 animated feature, The Lion King, was a huge smash in cinemas and continues to enjoy life in an acclaimed stage production. The story finds a lion cub, son of a king, sent into exile after his father is deposed by a jealous uncle. The little hero finds his way into the "circle of life" with some new friends and eventually comes back to reclaim his proper place. Characters are very strong, vocal performances by the likes of Jeremy Irons, Nathan Lane and Whoopi Goldberg are terrific, the jokes are aimed as much (if not more) at adults than kids, the animation is sometimes breathtaking and the songs from Tim Rice and Elton John, accompanied by a colourful score, are more palatable than in many recent Disney features. --Tom Keogh

Terrific film and discs. Please re-release this, Disney! July 14, 2010 K. Gordon From an adult audience perspective: Highly entertaining, funny, and
ultimately quite moving. It manages to be digestible for kids, but meaty enough
for anyone older.
Some great voicing -- especially by Jeremy Irons.
The songs are good, and most of the animation is quite beautiful.
It has its occasional sappy moments, and the basic plot is old as the
hills, but its all done very, very well. Not as sophisticated as some
of the Pixar films, but I not ashamed to admit it made me it made me
laugh and cry - both times I've seen it. How many current Hollywood
films, animated or not, can you say that about?
The DVD is top notch, both for image and sound, and the extras are a lot
of fun. The image quality is near blu-ray on my set up.
I'm just frustrated by Disney's policy of letting their classics go out of print,
I assume to drive up the value when they finally re-release the film. I'm
sure it's a good business model, but it's a awful corporate policy to create a great
film, and then not let the world share it. There's already a new generation of
kids whose families can't find this.
EXCELENT May 9, 2010 Ms. A. Dearden Love this film! best film ever made!...glad a found it on amazon, no shops sell it...very cheap, and quick on postage thanks
Lion King Review March 24, 2010 Ms. P. Charlesworth The item was delivered promptly which was excellent. However, when I watched it as it was reaching the final scenes the footage was jolty and stopped and went back to the middle of the film. I had to fast forward it to where I originally was and pray it went through, which it did, just about, but again was jarred. The film simply stopped during the beginning of the credits and wouldn't play any further.
On examination of the DVD I could see an obvious long scratch on it. The disk was sealed when I received it but I purchased it as 'second hand' so I am assuming that it was sealed somehow after being watched prior to me receiving it? Of course this disruption was disappointing for me. I have had to clean the DVD and when I watched it again there was a bit of improvement and it didn't go back to the centre of the film, but it was jolty and was touch and go!
Excellent gift for young family March 1, 2010 Chuck Wilberry (Scotland) This was bought as a gift for daughter's family - especially to keep a 2.5 year old toddler amused after the arrival of a baby sister. All reports from users have been very favourable from the quality of the DVD's to the film being amongst the better offerings of this type from Disney. Have not had time to view the whole disc set myself yet so can't really add to this comment other than both my grand-daughter and the rest of the family are only prepared to watch and re-watch good quality material and there have been no complaints about this package at all. Have not done a lot of research but it seems that the Amazon price is very competitive.
