film young victoria February 23, 2010 B. A. Lacey (uk) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have purchased this as a Mothers Day present, it came very quickly and looks well presented, obviously I have yet to ensure it is a good DVD and watchable.
Best Movie I've Seen In A While! February 11, 2010 Jennifer Trejo (tx usa) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am a Big History nerd and when movies like this come out I rush to see them and this was no disappointment. The love story is wonderful and some facts maybe a bit off but the story is pretty true.Like all the movies I've seen this one I can't get enough off.I live in Texas so when I went to see it the same night I came home and ordered it from here waited 2 whole weeks ( I couldn't wait to have it) and to be honest I have probably watched it more than 20 times. I even catch myself quoting some lines from the movie!Like I said loved it and also I loved how Rupert Friend portrayed Prince Albert he is wonderful.I recommend Cheri, he is in this great film. And Emily Blunt is superb as Queen Victoria!A definite must have for a history nut or romance gal!:)
Review of "Young Victoria" February 10, 2010 Mr. Philip Gardner (West Berkshire) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
"Young Victoria" is a credible and unsentimental treatment of the early years of Queen Victoria. It should prove worthwhile viewing for anyone interested in her life-story, as well as for someone genuinely concerned with and/or well-informed about early 19th Century British history. The characters are realistically portrayed, and the re-creation of female fashions for this period can give much pleasure to anyone interested in this aspect of the early years of her reign. It also brings out the fact that, unlike her later reputation, Victoria was feisty young woman, who found genuine love and happiness in an arranged marriage.
An Interesting Film February 2, 2010 Robin Red (Gloustershire U.K.) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
A story of the young Queen highlighting much that affected her attitudes and actions in later life. Well acted by all, but occasionally some sections seem a little too drawn out. The story is believable and one feels that the screen writer was able to access private papers. Young Victoria [DVD] [2009]
A life less known January 25, 2010 Think 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It is a pity that what is most remembered about Queen Victoria is her austerity (which was her life in grief after she lost Albert)rather than her progressive reforms in education and policies in support of the working classes. A wonderful partnership.
