This is a good dvd as long as you're interested in learning things about the Amazon region from the inside.Most of the stories are very interesting and Bruce Parry is convincing.However this documentary is not for those of you who would like to see the beauty and vast expanses of Amazonia and the Amazon river.The landscapes Parry travels through are fleetingly presented,as if the cameraman did not want us to see the landscapes.Too much of Bruce Parry on your screen talking and talking,which would not be bad if at the same time you were watching the Amazon or the action of the moment instead of Bruce's face.The months of traveling that this dvd required in order to be made, is not reflected in the images that you see.

Informative and unsentimental. Bruce's passion for his subject informed the series and made it compulsive and addictive viewing. It would be difficult to remain unmoved by the plight of the Rainforest after watching this series yet impossible not to feel sympathy for all parties. Bruce gives a balanced picture yet leads viewers to one compelling conclusion - THE RAINFOREST IS NECESSARY TO US ALL.

Bruce Parry gives you a beautiful look on the Amazon with a clear message; 'we'll need to protect the Amazon for all humanity'. Bruce Parry meets different kind of people during his trip from the source of the Amazon until the Atlanic Ocean. He speaks with the people who live in and work in the Amazon; the Indiantribes to the woodindustry and cocaplants. Trying to understand the lives from their point of view without judging them.
