I did not see all of the original broadcasts in the eighties as I was abroad myself. Having watched a few on Free-view TV I decided to source them on Amazon. I have not been dissapointed. These two series are still very funny and have excellent image and sound quality. Value for money is also second to non! Satisfied customer from Co.Down

Almost runs like a documentary but with lashings of humour throughout. A slow start sees the seven characters gradually being introduced and meeting up but the laughs come quickly enough. Despite the humour it is also a candid view of life for the skilled labourer in the early eighties. It is almost impossible for all the scrapes they get into to happen in real life but that is not so - it really is a typical look at life - this stuff really did happen for so many people. I found myself wanting to watch one episode after another but at almost an hour each I am having to discipline myself. Even though I saw the series when it was originally transmitted I still want to know what happens next ! I know after the 2004 Christmas special it seems that no more is forthcoming but even though the cast has seen changes (for obvious reasons) I still think it has infinite potential. Outstanding classic British comedy/drama.

Content = Amazing. Dvd = Poor.
I bought this when it first came out on DVD, both series 1 & 2 are amazing, read any review. They did the best they could without cancelling filming after the sad death of Gary Holton.
However, do be aware this copy is early, the episodes don't seem to automatically skip, its just an early version of a boxset. There is nothing wrong with my copy, i've had it a few years but as the prices come down, i might replace it. Do let me know if i'm wrong about this but i don't think i am.
Anyway, buy a version of series 1 and 2 as you wont get better entetainment. Seriously brilliant!!!
