Product Description Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Claudio Santamaria, Jesper Christensen, Judi Dench, Jeffrey WrightDirector: Martin Campbell
Amazon.co.uk When you get to a modern James Bond film, your expectations are surely that you’ll get expensive action sequences, expensive locations and a production that doesn’t skimp on anything. That holds particularly true for the Blu-ray versions of such films, where the hope is for a best-in-class transfer and sound mix. With Casino Royale, not only do you get that, but you also happen to get one of the finest 007 movies of recent times, too. A reboot for the franchise that ushers in Daniel Craig as a rawer, younger Bond, Casino Royale works a lot better than its follow-up, Quantum Of Solace by simple virtue of having a much better story at its core, going back directly to an Ian Fleming novel for it. Furthermore, in the casino sequence itself, it has a tense event to glue everything around, and it’s only in the final sequence or two where Casino Royale starts to feel like a conventional Bond film. That aside, it’s a superb piece of modern action cinema. The film also looks stunning in high definition. From the overhead shots of a glistening beach, to the darker, faster car chases and action sequences, Casino Royale is a fabulous workout for a home cinema rig. The audio mix punches hard, mixing in subtlety when needed with the bombastic subwoofer-workout you might well be hoping for. And the end result is pretty much demo material. Given the strength of the film too, this is surely one of the best Blu-rays of a modern-day film you can buy. And what a way to keep watching the film⦠--Jon Foster

Craig makes a good Bond, decent first film May 2, 2010 Thom. E. Gemcity (Birmingham, UK) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
A lot of people had criticism about Daniel Craig when he first took the role of James Bond. Just one peek at this film and you see how he is well placed to play the role. After a series of more and more boring storylines in recent Bond movies Casino Royale has injected new life into the franchise. The parkour scene is one of my most favourite in any film I've ever watched, and seeing this film on Blu ray really showcases the ability of 1080p content over standard definition. If you're a die hard fan, this is a must have; but equally if you're a HD junkie, film lover in general or you're a Craig fan, you won't be disappointed by this film. One of the best purchases I ever made.
The best Bond April 23, 2010 Petri (Finland) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is by far the best Bond movie out there. I've watched it maybe 5 times already on bluray, which doesn't happen with other Bond movies.
Awesome HD April 13, 2010 T. Schoon (London, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Casino Royale needs no review from me. Best Bond film for a long time.
The Blu-Ray of Daniel Craig's first outing pulls out all the stops. The picture quality is second to none. Sharp, colour perfectly balanced, contrast is perfect.
The soundtrack has several options one of which is PCM 5.1 for us Dolby Digital users. This film has never looked or sounded so good.
When showing off my system/blu-ray player Casino Royale is the disc that goes in - that and Ratatouille.
Also, ordered on Sunday; dispatched on Monday; arrived Tuesday. Perfect!

I hate that coward host of Bond girls extra! March 6, 2010 L. Koprivica (Belgrade, YU) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The movie itself is pure 5! BUT:
That woman, Maryam d'Abo, she's so sorry that she ever got into the Bond movie! She regrets she ever appeared in it!!! She keeps asking her "counterparts": how threatened they felt in "men's world" of James Bond movies!
I just can't believe it!
Thankfully, in supporting of what I'm saying, all of them were answering that it was a real pleasure to be in such a quality and fun movies, in company of such a men as is Sean Connery...
A new Bond February 14, 2010 MIGO (Graz / Ö) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Daniel Craig delivers a different type of James Bond, yet perfectly fitting into the Bond universe.
Perfect BluRay, many extras,9 significantly better than the DVD, nice price; in short a must buy.
