| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.co.uk Review It's not a horror film, but An Inconvenient Truth is certainly one of the scariest DVDs you could own. Presented in a straightforward format by former US Vice President Al Gore--think Royal British Institute lecture delivered with a Tennessee drawl--it sets out its compelling argument about climate change both methodically and entertainingly. Global warming is a real danger, argues Gore, and human civilisation is the root cause of it. A dizzying and shocking array of facts relating to carbon emissions, the population explosion and the disintegration of the polar icecaps all add weight to his thesis. Moreover, we're already witnessing some of the effects of global warming around the world, with an increasing amount of storms, droughts and other natural disasters, more in the past few years. But Gore doesn't present these facts merely to terrify the viewer. Instead, they're meant to shock us out of complacency and into action. Indeed, the film ends with some very simple ways we can all contribute to averting this impending global catastrophe. And that, argues Gore, is the point of An Inconvenient Truth. We have the ability to change our ways, what we lack is what Gore describes as "the political will." It is his hope that this film will begin to change all of that. --Ted Kord

Scary stuff- but too much about Al Gore, not enough about the planet February 27, 2010 Mr. Stuart Bruce (Cardiff, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am convinced that global warming is a man-made or at least man-assisted phenomenon and a disaster that needs to be averted. This documentary demonstrates this quite thoroughly- but sadly it has some other flaws.
This 'movie' is effectively a 90-minute long Powerpoint presentation (or rather Apple Keynote, same principle), intercut with snippets of what is effectively an Al Gore autobiography.
I wanted more visual examples of global warming's warning signs, more interviews with scientists discussing each point. Most decent TV documentaries would have more interviewees and sources than this.
Whilst I'm not doubting the science, I think some of the statistics on display are a bit 'showy' and the lack of properly marked axes on some of the graphs starts feeling a bit suspicious and un-sciency.
I'm not impressed that "global warming" and "Al Gore" are essentially being mushed together and that global warming becomes "Al Gore's issue". Don't get me wrong, it's great that there are high-profile people putting the points across, but this movie really should have been less about Gore-the-celebrity-campaigner and more about the planet. (I'm also an atheist but I feel the same way about some of Richard Dawkins' recent work).
A few shocking statistics stop this film being entirely dull, but overall "An Inconvenient Truth" is pitched at the wrong level.
NON SCIENCE February 20, 2010 GeraldH (London , England) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I hated this book . For me it has nothing scientific or sensible to say on the subject of climate change.
As such distracts from the discussions . There are lots of good science based books out there that do make a realistic contribution to the discussion.
No one knows the answers . Lots do not understand the problem. So far CO2 is listed as the problem but not yet proven . There are likely to be a number of contributary causes yet to be determined . Many beyond our control since we are part of a larger universe
Inconvenient lies and propaganda January 21, 2010 Geoff (Northants UK) 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
Increasingly being shown for the alarmist propaganda that it actually is.
It is fiction video of untruths being passed off as being a documentary truth.
For a while I was even persuaded by this video, but for those who care to look, there is plenty of evidence to show just how untrue and misleading this video really is.
The real truth behind this would seem to be much more about who stands to make a fortune from scaring us into believing the manmade global warming myth.
Frightening! A must see DVD! December 6, 2009 M. O'SHEA (Caernarfon WALES) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
This DVD shows in a clear shocking way how big business and corrupt politicians have brought our planet to the brink of catastrophe. The sad thing about it, is the rest of us have allowed them to do it. God help us! (Rev.11:18).
I recommend it November 7, 2009 Marian Bizub (Slovakia) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
It is good movie, discribes many aspect and factors why we face Global Warming and Climate Change. I recommend it.
