Series 4 Doesn't Live up to Standards of First Three Series June 21, 2010 M. S. Sanders (GA USA) Unlike the first three series of Bad Girls in which nearly every episode delivers the goods, series four doesn't start rolling until it's three-quarters of the way done. Linda Henry is a standout, as always, as Yvonne Atkins but her character has very little to do. Indeed, nobody has much of anything to do until episode 13 or so. The acting is fine (more than), but the storylines simply aren't as riveting as they were in the first three series. Nor is there a couple whose romance is as gripping as that of Helen (Simone Lahbib) and Nikki (Mandana Jones). We simply don't care about any of the characters enough. Cassie (Kellie Bright) and Roisin (Siobhan McCarthy) are one-noted until the end of the series. It's hard to feel sorry for Fenner's (Jack Ellis) predicament with the new number one (James Gaddas), because we've learnt to despise him from the other series. The new vicar (Michael Elwyn) is a wet noodle; one wonders what the heretofore spirited Barbara (Isabelle Amyes) would see in him. The two Julies (Victoria Alcock and Kika Mirylees) still provide some lighthearted moments, but one wishes that the producers would fix upon what kind of character they want Di Barker (Tracey Wilkinson) to be: is she a manstalking psycho who abuses her mum or is she simply a sad woman who's been dealt a rum hand? Even the evil characters like Maxi Purvis (Kerry Norton) and Sylvia Hollamby (Helen Fraser) end up being runny watercolors of their former selves in series 4. I haven't watched series 5 yet, but here's hoping it gets back on track.

hmmm August 20, 2006 Ms. F. I. Macdonald (uk) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
maybe not as good as the other three series's but still addictive and entertaining viewing and a must for any dvd collection.my suggestion is always to buy the first box set of any series first regardless of the reviews as otherwise you will not be properly introduced to the characters before you are thrown into the story. watch it now!!
More adictive viewing, with all new twist, turns and tantrums August 9, 2006 S.C. (Northern Ireland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Unfortunly Shell Dockley does not return in this series, and is sorely missed, but we get our Denny back-much to Hollamby's disgust! The latest couple is rich, sassy embezzler Cassie Tyler and the woman who covered her back in court- Roisin Connor, a mother whose turmoil over her children leads to some serious issues that are dealt with in that all-too familiar Larkhall style! We say farewell to Maxi Purvis of the Peckham boot gang, and her shy sister Tina, finally comes into her own, warm bubbly and the latest addition to some truely heart warming characters who have entertained us with their dim wits and mad ideas. A new altogether more evil chaacter appears- Snowball Merriman, whose plan to break out "explodes" through the prison walls...............
Bad girls at it's best October 19, 2005 chatty_teacher 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Ok, so Nikki and Helen aren't on our screens any more, but the new couple - Roisin and Cassie are brilliant. The storyline of Roisin's turmoil of being in Larkhall is gripping. From her relationship to Cassie, her drug abuse and her time spent the "muppet" wing, actress Siobhan McCarthy's acting is second to none. As a die-hard Bad Girls fan, I am biased but I'd say BUY this series as it is G-wing at it's best!
