Funny, Sexy, Brilliant August 8, 2010 John Harrington (Tipperary, Ireland) This film is absolute genius, for those of you looking for some light hearted comedy this is the film for you, If you are looking for a serious film with a solid plot you should look elsewhere. But aside from the film itself Jane Fonda has to get the credit for making this film the classic that it is. I personally would watch this movie just to see her but the quality of the film is a bonus
a jump to the past July 20, 2010 Marco Tomada (Rome, Italy) Funny old SF film. Extraordinary Jane Fonda's charme. Dialogs very easy to understand for no mother tongue like me. Recommended.
Barbarella Still Has It May 15, 2010 David K. Thomson (Aylesbury, Bucks, UK) Probably not for those who expect tight script, gritty action and believable acting. However, don't discount this classic sci-fi as 60's sexploitation. It does have a story - if strange - and the plot does progress from introduction to conclusion albeit with a few detours. The special effects are best described as 'quaint', and the eponymous Barbarella is wonderfully overplayed by the young and very sexy Jane Fonda.
Barbarella is one of those films which fall very clearly into one of two categories...you either love it or you loathe it.
Which, is up to you.
One Star For Each of Jane Fonda's Breasts March 14, 2010 Frank (Northampton, England) 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
Can we all get real for a minute? Would anyone have ever released/watched/paid to see this film if some enterprising film exec hadn't convinced Jane Fonda to take her clothes off? Not a chance, and thank you to Roger Vadim and Dino DeLaurentis. The story/plot is non-existent, but Jane Fonda surely has nice breasts.
I would recommend this film to any easily entertained adolescent with over-active hormones.
Jane Fonda and Roger Vadim what else to say ...., February 22, 2010 Massimo Santilli (La Spezia - Liguria Italy) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've taken this film from Amazon.fr for is another film you never find in shops in Italy
Jane Fonda had almost 30 years when she was the protagonist of the story of Barbarella and her blind angel. She represented cinematically as America's "New Deal" of the great dynasties of family funds and Kennedy, it was very glamorous, but also very determined, independent, fully dressed in this "new deal" to "new" American woman. The film condenses many of the contradictions of the era and style of today and "a fine example of vintage pop-culture. Improbable spacecraft is combined with feathered wings, strippers, nude, but only understand in a narrative voice full, when Barbarella tried Durand-Durand in a world populated by men from the limits of the effemminated tedious recitation . Although musically the film now, already "in the original sequence of opening credits, where one theme for choir and orchestra which structures striptease" integral "Jane, a sexy woman astronaut in 1968! A scene remained in the annals of film history: it slips "metal" naked out of his overalls and sensually spinning in the air like they did the astronauts Kubrick from the parts of Jupiter! ( "Barbarella" out "a few months after" 2001 ", but was produced and filmed in Rome in studies of Dino De Laurentiis). To be reviewed through the eyes of his friend and collector of" maniac ", without making the error compare it with the contemporary fantasy film, but a reassessment of the work of such pop-glamorous definitively resolved and cinema has always been fleeting and indeterminate (Andy Warhol? John Waters? great cause ... ...), as rare works attributed to this genus.
